HOW TO IMPORT?

I FORMALITIES FOR OBTAINING THE STAUTUS OF IMPORTER IN CAMEROON

The procedure for obtaining the status of exporter/importer includes (03) steps:

(i) Registration in the trade and real estate credit register ;

(ii) Obtaining the merchant card ;

(iii) L’obtaining the exporter/importer card (Registering in the exporter/importer register)

I-1 Registration in the trade and real estate credit register

Place: Registry of the local court of first instance

Box 1: Required documents

For a natural person or a sole propretorship For legal persons or corporate entreprises
(i) A handwritten application with a one thousand franc stamp (1000 FCFA) addressed to the chief clerk of the local court of first instance ;(i) One (1) handwritten application with a one thousand franc (1 000 Fcfa) stamp addressed to the chief registrar of the local court of first instance;
(ii) A copy of the birth certifcate (ii) Two (02) certified copies of the statutes (1 000 Fcfa x 2 xthe number of pages )
(iii) An extract of criminal record or any other document required and, otherwise, any other document taking place, Cameroonian non-nationals must also provide an extract of criminal record drawn by their competent authorities; (iii) Two (02) copies of the declaration of regularity and conformity, or notarial declaration of payment subscription;
(iv) A residence certificate (1000 F CFA fiscal stamp, 100 F CFA for printing); (iv) Two (02) copies of the certified and complaint list of managers, directors or associates who have been indefinitely and personally responsible or have the power to organize the company
(v) A copy of the property title or a lease of the principal establishment, and if applicable that of other establishments (fiscal stamp of 1 000 F CFA);(v) Two criminal records of the persons referred to in the preceding paragraph otherwise any other document in place thereof, the Cameroonian natianls must also provide an extract of criminal record established by their competent authority
(vi) A copy of the act of acquisition or lease management ;
(vii) A copy of the national indentity card ;
(viii) For married persons :
- A copy of the marriage certificate
- A marital Authorization

I-2 Obtaining a professional trader’s card

Place: Directorate of Foreign Trade (DFT) of the Minsitry of Trade (Ground floor of the Fose building, Yaoundé )
Required documents :

  • A form to fill available at the divisional tax centers
  • A certified copy of the national identity card for natural persons and statutes for legal persons
  • A certificate from the register of trade and real estate credit for legal persons
  • A mandate of one thousand five hundred franc ( 1 500 FCFA ) payable to the Director of Taxes
  • A location plan previously established (certificate and location report) by the tax division center ;
  • A photocopy of the license for traders to withdraw in the tax division center

I-3 Registration to the importer’s file

Place : Directorate of Foreign Trade (DFT) of the Minisitry of Trade (Ground floor of the Fose building, Yaoundé )

Required documents :

(i) An information sheet to be withdrawn from the Directorate of Foreign Trade (DFT) against payment of one thousand CFA Francs (1 000f cfa);
(ii) A handwritten application with a stamp of five hundred CFA Francs (500F CFA);
(iii) A certified copy of the trade register ;
(iv) A copy of the tax payer card to be established in the divisional centers of taxes upon presentation of the register of trade ;
(v) A certified copy of the patent
(vi) A receipt for the payment of the sum of fifteen thousand CFA Francs (15 000F CFA at the Ministry of trade ;
(vii) A declaration on honour for cocoa, coffee, wood and medicinal plants exporters

Important :

The renewal of the importer’s card comes after each fiscal year by presenting the following documents:

(i) An information sheet to be obtained from the Directorate of Foreign Trade (DFT) against payment of one thousand CFA Franc (1 000f cfa);
(ii) A handwritten application with a stamp of five hundred CFA Francs (500F CFA)
(iii) A certified copy of a valid « importer » patent;
(iv) A payment receipt of ten thousand CFA Francs (10 000F CFA) from the National Council of Laoders of Cameroon
(v) A receipt of the payment of ten thousand F CFA (10 000F CFA) from the Minsitry of trade ;
(vi) A tax certificate ;
(vii) A copy of the old agreement

The non-compliance of these goods with the relevant standard gives them the right to re-export or destroy them at the expense of the importer.
